Samsung shocked the entire smartphone market when it released the Galaxy Fold back in 2019.
While this was launched as a revolutionary new device, it also helped launch an entirely new range of smartphones for the South Korean brand. Samsung expanded its offering with more foldable devices under the Galaxy Z range.
This new model came with new color options, an upgraded camera system, and up to 1 TB in storage.

Subtly Sleek Design

The new Galaxy Fold 4 looks incredibly similar to the previous model. However, the entire phone comes in a shorter frame and looks much sleeker than the Fold 3. Samsung carefully crafted the new smartphone to be more comfortable in your hand and your pocket.
The big selling point about the Fold is that you can get a massive screen in a smaller form factor. The small form is designed specifically with portability in mind, so the slightly shorter frame is welcomed by Fold owners around the world.
Upgraded Processor
The new Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 also features a new processor. The Fold 3 comes with a Snapdragon 888 that’s paired with 12 GB of RAM. The RAM that a phone comes with is incredibly important as most smartphones don’t allow you to upgrade it. In some cases, the higher configurations increase the RAM slightly, but the Fold 4 stays at 12 GB throughout the range.
While many may ask for more, 12 GB of RAM is more than enough for almost every user. This is more RAM than you can find in most laptops and is perfect for both traditional and professional use. This, paired with the 5G speeds, makes the Fold 4 an incredibly snappy smartphone.
This new processor is an upgrade from the Snapdragon 888 and is listed as a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. This processor can reach speeds of up to 3.2 GHz, making it one of the fastest mobile processors money can buy.
Samsung notes that the processor can compete directly with the mobile chips in the modern iPhone and assure customers that it will outperform the iPhone 13 Pro Max and the new iPhone scheduled to be released later in 2022.
New Camera System
The Samsung Fold 4 comes with a three-camera system that includes a 50 MP wide-angle camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10 MP telephoto lens. The 10 MP telephoto camera is the most impressive as it comes with 3x optical zoom and 30x space zoom functionality.
The new camera systems are a small but significant upgrade over the Fold 3. However, Samsung has also improved the software aspect of their camera modules, making them more efficient and better at optimizing images as you take them.
Storage Options
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes in three different storage options. This includes the 256 GB and 512 GB options that were available with the Fold 3 along with a new 1 TB option that’s unique to the Fold 4.
This 1 TB option is extremely pricey but is completely worth it for users who require extra space for photography or work purposes.
120Hz Refresh Rate
Samsung is known for making some of the best displays in the industry. The Fold 4 comes with a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display that comes with an innovative 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate.
In addition to this, the Fold 4 comes with a 6.2-inch HD+ Dynamic ALMOLED 2X Infinity-O Display as well.
Other Impressive Features
The Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 may come with a few impressive new features, but it still comes with all the breakthrough technologies that made the Fold 3 so great.
This includes 5G connectivity, an impressive battery life, and an intuitive Samsung interface. Here’s a quick breakdown of these great features.
5G Connectivity
Samsung was one of the first major brands to fully adopt 5G technology. After years of rumors and speculation, 5G was introduced to almost all of Samsung’s phones. The 5G module within the Fold 4 is an industry-leading piece of technology that allows the smartphone to download at speeds of up to 1 Gbps.
Known as millimeter wave functionality, the Fold 4 provides users with significantly faster download speeds than even the most powerful iPhones on the market. This means that if you often download and upload large files, it may be worth it to upgrade to the Fold 4.
Impressive Battery Life
The battery life in the new Galaxy Fold 4 is seriously impressive. As one of the biggest batteries in any smartphone, the Fold 4 can comfortably last you the entire day regardless of what you intend to use the phone for.
The Fold 4 comes with a massive 4,400 mAh battery. This is the same as the Fold 3 but is significantly more than the Flip 4 from Samsung. This is also much larger than the battery found in the iPhone 13 from Apple as that phone only has a 3,240 mAh battery.
Intuitive Interface
Samsung devices all run a version of Android software. While this software is designed and updated by Google, Samsung has made a few unique adjustments to help make the Samsung Galaxy phones stand out. Known as the One UI, this software overlay creates a unique interface for people when using their Samsung devices.
This entire UI focuses on one-hand functionality and redesigns the entire operating system to be used by a single hand. This is not just a practical upgrade but also looks incredibly aesthetic at the same time. All the icons are shifted toward the bottom of the screen, with gestures and action keys all within reach.
This makes it the perfect system to use with a single hand. There have been a few versions of the One UI software over the last few years, with the latest version being One UI 4 which was released publicly back in 2021 with the Galaxy S21.
Samsung has also dedicated resources and time to continuously upgrade the system. This means that if you buy a new Samsung device with this software, it’s only going to get better every day.
Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 Price
The new Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 comes in a ton of different options. This allows customers to customize the specs that come with the phone to fit their exact needs. In the United States, you can buy the Galaxy Fold 4 with a carrier or unlocked so that you can use any carrier you want.
The 256 GB version of the Galaxy Fold 4 starts at around $1,799 while you can upgrade to 512 GB for $1,919. There is also a 1 TB version of the phone available but is only available with an unlocked device. The price for the 1 TB model sits at $2,159.
While the Galaxy Fold 4 is not exactly cheap, Samsung offers a wide range of promotions to make the Fold 4 more affordable. Samsung offers financing that works out to be around $50 a month for 36 months. The most expensive model increases your monthly payment by $10 to around $60 per month for 36 months.
Samsung also offers a premium for trade-ins. With an eligible trade-in device, you can get your hands on the Fold 4 for as little as $899. You can also combine the trade-in with the financing option to get the Fold 4 for just $25 a month for 36 months.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the latest model to be released under Samsung’s Galaxy Z range. This innovative smartphone builds on the success of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and comes with an upgraded camera module, new colors, a 1 TB storage option, and a new 120 Hz screen.
These new features join the already industry-leading specs from Samsung to create something truly unique in the smartphone market.
