What to Expect from the iPhone 16: Key Features and Innovations

As we’re getting closer and closer to Apple’s next release, i-Blason is quite excited to see what goodies will come with the iPhone 16. We’re sure you are also wondering what key features and innovations are poised to elevate your mobile experience.

Rumors have been circulating about the possible iPhone 16 features, although they’re more about iPhone 16 Pro models recently. Nevertheless, we have some amazing new upgrades to expect, from a more power-efficient display to a new action button.

Let’s discuss these upgrades more before you get some new iPhone cases and accessories.

Improved Display and Design

Reports say that both iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro use OLED panels. Apple also seems to be considering using a micro-lens array or MLA, so its newest models have increased brightness. The micro-lens array will help boost brightness without increasing power consumption.

This works with MLA using billions of uniform patterned lenses within the panel. These lenses reduce internal reflection with the reflected light, making the device brighter while keeping power consumption low. Also, the OLED panels result in more power-efficient iPhone 16 models thanks to better materials used.

Reportedly, Apple tested several designs but decided in the end to use a vertically aligned camera system for the standard iPhone 16 models. This comes with a pill-shaped camera bump that is different from the square-shaped camera bump that previous iPhones had. With the new lens arrangement, the company managed to keep the camera bump slimmer than before.

The latest iPhone’s new design includes Wide and Ultrawide lenses separated by a pill-shaped bump and with a microphone next to it. Meanwhile, the camera flash is outside the bump at the back of the device.

Action Button and Capture Button

One of iPhone 16’s newest changes is the Action button on the left side of the device. This button replaces the old mute switch. Below the Action button is where the volume buttons will be placed, the same as most iPhones.

Another new feature to expect from iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models is the Capture button. It is on the right side of the phone where the mmWave antenna is found, the same as some of the previous iPhone models.

This new button makes recording videos and taking photos easier when the device is in landscape orientation. Reports say the button will be mechanical but may respond to touch and pressure.

There are reportedly some size upgrades, but the iPhone 16 doesn’t seem to include them. It is believed that iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models will stay at 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes. No worries, as i-Blason has some of the coolest phone cases to elevate design.

New Camera Features

Apple’s latest iPhone innovations for its upcoming models include some notable camera changes. We have already mentioned the new vertical lens arrangement for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. This upgrade allows both models to capture spatial video.

Sadly, the biggest update is available only to the iPhone 16 Pro, the 48-megapixel Wide camera. This would bring better images for the devices even in lower lighting conditions. The iPhone Pro is also expected to have increased optical zoom courtesy of a super telephoto periscope camera.

Chip Upgrade

All iPhone 16 models will be powered by a new chip that brings significant improvements. Both iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro will use an A18 system-on-chip (SoC), with the Pro models having a more enhanced version with additional AI features.

Faster Connectivity

Apple’s latest iPhone models are also expected to have faster wireless connectivity with a Wi-Fi 7 upgrade. However, this upgrade seems to be only for the iPhone 16 Pro. According to reports, iPhone 16 models will instead support Wi-Fi 6E, like the iPhone 15 Pro.

Ramped Up RAM at 8GB

All iPhone 16 models will have 8GB RAM, unlike the iPhone 15, where the base models only have 6GB RAM while the Pro versions have 8GB RAM. Together with the rumored new A18 chip, the higher RAM allocation puts iPhone 16 models as an even better gaming device.

New Thermal Design

Another upgrade that iPhone 16 models are expected to have is a new thermal design. Rumors said Apple will use a graphene thermal system for the iPhone 16, but the Pro versions will also have a metal battery casing.

Enhanced AI Capabilities
